Kiribi Kuboto First Glance - Loose Screw

We received some feedback from a great customer of ours, Mike B., recently invested in a Kiribi Kuboto Lighter. He wanted to let all know about a quick fix for a loose screw near the top action.

"I love this lighter but noticed last night there was something sharp. It's this screw above my thumb had backed out and could have Fallon out if I didn't catch it. I used a small glasses screw driver and put it back in but obviously it's a problem. Just thought I would give you heads up. Everyone loves this lighter as well, huge tank." - Mike B.

You can see the screw directly above Mike's thumbnail.

The important thing to remember here is that a lighter, like many other products that we use in our daily lives have moving parts, and may require periodic maintenance. I beleive this was an extreme case, since Mike only had the lighter for about  2 weeks.

I will approach the manufacturer / distributor about this and see if we can get some advice (perhaps add some thread lock) to remedy the issue and will update accordingly.

Update: If you experience this issue, we have confirmed with US Kiribi distributor Laudisi that some Lock-tite Blue 243 will rectify this issue. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Cigar Manor or Laudisi.

What is the best lining for a humidor?

What is the best lining for a humidor? Spanish cedar. It's best for moisture regulation. And bugs hate that wood.

Did You Know... Mark Twain

Did you know that Mark Twain gave up smoking cigars and as a result suffered a severe case of writer’s block?

And then.... when he resumed smoking 300 cigars per month, he wrote a book in three months.

10 cigars a day seems a bit excessive, but to each's own! We are certainly not advising you do this nor are we suggesting that if you smoke 300 cigars per month, that you can write a book in 3 months!

Just an interesting fact..

Did you know... Cigar Construction

That cigars contain a variety of tobaccos, but are made of 3 leaves: Binders, fillers and wrappers.

Each the binder, fillers and wrappers can come from a vast range of regions such as the United States, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico,  Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru and many others.

The fillers in good cigars are long type fillers, typically machine made inexpensive cigars contain short fillers.

Filler types of tobacco vary in strength and flavor and are categorized by the area in which they are picked from the tobacco plant.

How to select Shipping

When choosing your shipping method, the situations can vary greatly. There are couple factors that you should take into consideration.

Firstly, how costly are the products you are ordering and should they be insured? Insurance is a relatively inexpensive back up, but ensure you know what the insurance is actually covering. Many shops use a 3rd party insurance company, we use Shipsurance. You can find out more about them here.

Do I need to the products by a specific date? If so, consider an expedited shipping method from your desired carrier. Please ensure you review the carriers guidelines thoroughly. Some methods do not guarantee the deliver date.

Lastly, if you have any questions about shipping and are looking for some guidance, make sure you contact the store as they should most defiantly be able to help you.

Cigar Humidor Tray - Do I need one?

Humidor Trays

Not all Cigar Humidors come with built in trays. Humidors of all different sizes come both with and without them. So the question still remains, do I need one?

The larger the humidor, it is highly suggested that a tray is used. Well why is this? The answer is simple, a tray allows for better organization of your cigars and allows the air to circulate better throughout the cigar humidor. Occasional cigar rotation is recommended, keeping the relative humidity levels as even as possible. It is a well known fact that the cigar humidor is actually a micro-climate within its own. Humidity levels tend to vary throughout with higher levels near the humidifier itself.

Some Humidor Trays have more slots than others, this is to increase airflow.

Some Humidors offer a split style tray, Adorini does this quite often.

Regardless of your decision, it is important to understand the simple concept of utilizing a humidor tray to ease organization and maintaining the rotation schedule of your cigars. Ultimately, keeping the humidity levels as uniform as possible when storing your cigar investment.

If you are in the market for a new humidor, check out our selection of humidors with built in trays here!

What Does The Adorini Humidors RibTech Do?

We have been asked by customers what is the Adorini RibTech, what does it do and... does it actually work? Do any other manufacturers have this technology?

Adorini notes the following:

"The new generation of adorini humidors sets a new state of the art in the humidor market. Innovations such as ventilation ribs (“RibTech”) in the humidor case and in the trays ensure improved air circulation. An innovative divider system permits flexible separation of the humidor to make perfect use of the space, still allowing adequate circulation. The adorini deluxe humidification system, based on a new kind of acryl developed in aerospace research, is included in all adorini Deluxe humidors. This system ensures a more accurate, stable and easy to maintain humidification."

However, this still doesn't answer the pending question! Does RibTech actually work?

We have done our due diligence and followed up directly with Adorini and this is exactly what they told us!

"What I can tell you is "yes, it actually works." The problem is well know: when storing several cigars in a "normal" humidor, the upper cigars are very wet, the bottom cigars are pretty dry. Therefore we developed the ventilation ribs, that allow the humidity to reach teh bottom even if the humidor is completely filled up. Regarding the competitors: Some already copied the ribs, but modified these slightly because the system is protected (but no brand products)."

Hope this helps!
