Savoy by Ashton, a Humidor Review

Savoy is a humidor line manufactured by Ashton. Ashton is a big player in the Cigar world with a strong reputation behind them. Headquarter in Philadelphia PA and family operated, Ashton has always delivered and continues to deliver quality products and provided impeccable service behind their products.
Let’s get to it: there are two specific lines of Savoy Humidors we are going to cover in this review. The Classic and the Executive.

The Classic

The Savoy Classic may be considered an entry level Humidor by some, but by all means is well built and will likely satisfy the needs of most aficionados.  Constructed with all premium materials and brilliant finishes, the Classic will keep your sticks aging nicely with ease. Lock and keys are supplied with Large and Extra Large Classic models
Options are far from scarce when choosing the right piece for your living quarters, office or where ever the humidor will reside. The Savoy Classic is offered in an amazing 14 different finishes (2 Mahogany, one with a glass lid).

The 14 choices are as follows:

African Teak, Ash Burl, Beatlewood, Black Calabash, Bubinga, Ironwood Marquerty, Macassar, Mahogany, Mahogany Glass-Top, Marquis Caramel Elm, Pearwood, Rosewood, Walnut and Zebrawood

Offered in four sizes (apx):

Size

Capacity

Dimensions

Small

25 Cigars

10 ¼ L x 8 ¾ W x 4 ½ H

Medium

50 Cigars

11 ¾ L x 9 ½ W x 5 H

Large

100 Cigars

13 ½ L x 9 ⅜ W x 6 ¼ H

*Extra Large

150 Cigars

15 ⅞ L x 12 W x 8 ⅛ H

*Note the Extra Large is not offered in all finishes.

Pricing for the Classic line is a bit different, significantly more reasonable than the Executives, but will not only vary by size, but by finish as well. Savoy Classic humidors retail in a range of $90-120 for a Small and from $200-320 for an Extra Large box. Don’t let the reasonable pricing fool you, the Classic could very well be the best bang for your buck in the industry.

The Executive

Slightly higher priced than the Classic, but the funds are well vested in the right places. Once you get beyond the beautiful finish of the box, you will certainly notice it carries some weight. The construction of the humidor is impeccable, starting with the dovetail joints to having completely solid wood from the veneer exterior to the Spanish cedar core and the solid ¼ inch Spanish cedar lining. The Executive is equipped with a built in Boveda humidification packet holder, allowing you to spend your time enjoying your hobby, not worrying about maintaining the relative humidity. Lock and keys are supplied with Large Executive models only.

Offered in four finishes:

Ebony Macassor, Matte Mahogany, Olive Ash Burl and Santos Rosewood

Offered in three sizes (apx):

Size

Capacity

Dimensions

Small

25 Cigars

11 L x 9 W x 5 H

Medium

50 Cigars

14 L x 9 ⅞ W x 6 ¾ H

Large

100 Cigars

17 L x 12 W x 7 ½ H

The Executive retails starting at $325.00 for the small, $425 for the medium and $525.00 respectively for the large. The Executive is a workhorse and built to last, in our humble opinion, a small price to pay for a high quality humidor.
