If you have any questions, please contact us directly.
Q: I prefer my humidor to be stable at 72% RH, can you season to this humidity level?
A: Technically speaking, yes, we CAN season to 72%. However, this is highly not recommended by the manufacturer. The reason for this is simple, as temperatures fluxuate, the colder the air, the less humidity the air can hold, and vise versa for warmer air. If we ship at 72% RH and the humidor gets delayed and is stuck in a carriers warehouse for an extened period of time, it is possible that mold can develop.
Q: Can I add more distilled water when I receive the humidor to raise the RH.
A: Yes, you can follow the instructions by Daniel Marshall or call us if you have any questions.
Q: Will you place the calendar marker in the propper place before you ship the humidor?
A: Well.. we can do this, but it will likely fall off and rattle around the inside of the humidor. We prefer to leave it all sealed up inside the box. If you would like us to do this, please contact us or add a comment in the notes field.
Q: My new seasoned Daniel Marshall 20165 today and the humidity was lower than 65%. What should I do?
A: Simple, you can feel free to add your cigars as well as a touch of Distilled Water (1 oz) to the Humidifer. The Humidor will be back up to 70% within a few days
Q: Do I have to open the humidifier to add solution or distilled water?
A: Technically not, but it is way easier. Just make sure you take it off the lid and fill it outside of the humidor to avoid any spilling inside the box. If water comes in direct contact with the spanish cedar, the grain of the wood will raise. This will change the apperance.
Q: How long will it take you to pre-season the humidor?
A: Daniel Marshall recommends allowing up to 21 days for the seasoning process. However, we have confirmed with Daniel Marshall that, the 21 day threshold tends to vary on the temperature of our facility, the interior humididity of our facility and the size of the humidor. Expect a larger humidor to take longer than a smaller humidor. For example, we can typically season a 20165 humidor in about 14 days and it will require us to add both solution and distilled water multiple times throughout the process.
Q: Should I expedite the shipping for my humidor if you pre-season it?
A: Perhaps, depending on where we are shipping to, this might be good idea. When we ship the humidor, it is nearly air tight, thus keeping the humidity stable and in combination with the packaging peanuts, will provide a little bit of insulation value. However, one thing we cannot control is the temperature inside of the carriers warehouses, trucks, trains and planes. Temperature will over time aclimate, and remember, the colder the air temperature, the lest moisture the air will hold. If you have any questions about this, please contact me directly.
A: Possibly in the future, but not currently.
